With Matt working out of state for the last few months and rarely knowing in advance when he’ll be back in town, it’s made me learn to be flexible and make the most of the time we do get to have together.
So last Thursday I found out he would be back in town for one full day on Saturday and we decided to make the most of it. Thanks to Milk and Eggs, which is a grocery delivery service in the Southern California area, I was able to order the missing ingredients I needed to bake a coffee cake Saturday morning without squeezing another trip to the grocery store into my already busy schedule.
While we had to take a quick turn around trip down to San Diego on Saturday, the morning made for a perfect time to slow down and spend some time together.
I woke up early and whipped up an amazing coffee cake with this recipe that can be found on my Pinterest page. When Matt came over I made some pour over coffees for us and we sat and enjoyed a peaceful morning before setting out on a busy day.
These quiet times spent together are usually spent in talking about future goals and dreams, praying together, or just unwinding from our crazy busy schedules. And I find that these are the moments that bring us closer together.
This season of life with Matt has taught me that some of the best dates don’t have to involve going out or spending a lot of money. It’s about the quality time that you spend with the person you love.
