June has been a relatively low-key month for me when it comes to traveling. I’ve been gearing up for some bigger travel plans over the next couple months, so I’ve been staying close to home and enjoying the down time.
Matthew’s schedule, on the other hand, has kept him out of state most of the month. When he is in town, we typically get about two days to see each other before he has to take off again. With such a crazy schedule, it’s important that we take time to plan date nights and make the most of the time we have together.
We both have a love for travel and trying new foods, so I thought it would be fun to spend a night out at the Anaheim Packing District sampling different foods from among their over 35+ eateries that cover a large array of different types of food from around the world.
Since we went on Taco Tuesday, we decided to start off with some Mexican food from Urbana’s happy hour menu. I ended up opting for some ceviche instead of tacos and I had no regrets. I don’t normally order ceviche since I can’t have shrimp, but they had a red snapper alternative that was so fresh and delicious!
From Urbana, we made our way to dim sum at 18 Folds which is located in the Farmers Park building next to the Packing House. This was actually my first dim sum experience and I’m now hooked. We sampled some soup dumplings and deep fried spare ribs. I love small bites like tapas, so dim sum was right up my alley and I can’t wait to go back!
Our last dinner stop was to The Kroft where we had a little Canadian and Indian mash up and tried their new Tikka Masala Poutine. While it was good, it wasn’t the best representation of poutine for Matt who was trying it for the first time. I also like my Tikka Masala with a little more spice but the dish was tasting and worth trying.
We couldn’t end our food tour of the Packing District without dessert and I had been eyeing the popsicles from Popbar all evening. I went for the strawberry sorbetto pop dipped in chocolate and crushed waffle cone. It was the perfect end to a night of great eats!
